Jews in Canoes!

Sunday was the third annual “Jews in Canoes” float trip on the Buffalo River. We floated the Lower Buffalo River from the Highway 14 Bridge to Rush Landing. The distance was 9.10 miles; the water was at 5.25 feet and the canoes sped down the river never touching the bottom. The trip took 2 hours and 55 minutes. We spent 2 hours and 14 minutes paddling, the rest was spent messing around on the river. Our average speed 3.1 MPH under sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 80s. The water was cold but warmer than last week. 20 people and ten canoes made the trip.

April 21, 2007, First float of the Year!
Saturday we floated the Kings River from Rockhouse to Trigger Gap. The distance was 8.22 miles; the water was at 3.5 feet and the canoes dragged very little. The trip took 5 hours and14 minutes. We spent 2 hours and 52 minutes paddling; the rest was spent messing around on the river. Our average speed 1.6 MPH under sunny skies and temperatures in the low 80s. The water was cold but not unbearable. We took three canoes and two kayaks.
Zac and Frere, Eric and Delia, Emilie and Christy, Abby and Ryan, Hunter and Carol.

There is no such thing as "second annual". There is the first, the second and then the third annual. Seems like you would know that working for a newspaper. :)

OK...I defer to the AP stylebook that says it becomes annual after the second. My bad.
