Blues Bound!!!

Early tommarrow morning I am off to the 21st Annual Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival in Helena AR.

Here is a photo of Robert Lockwood performing during the 19th Annual King Biscuit Blues Festival in 2004.

The Arkansas Blues and Heritage Featival and the King Biscuit Blues Festival are the same event. The festival kept the KBBF name for its first 19 years but last year, on the 20th anniversary of the non-profit event, organizers were forced to change the name.

Eddie Armstrong, a life-long Helena resident, told me he has attened every festival from the begining.

Mr. Armstrong sat in his chair in front of the Delta Cultural Center all day that day.

In addition to the scheduled artists many street musicans perform during the festival. Some of the best music is heard on the street.

This is Willie Jones of Eureka Springs playing his 1936 National Steel Guitar in the rain on Cherry Street in downtown Helena.
Willie really rocked out on this guitar. I think I listened and photographed him for about 45 minutes or so. My friends finaly dragged me away to go see someone else perform.

Well I have said too much and I need to pack and run to the store before I leave so I will post again when I return from the 21st Annual Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival Sunday evening or Monday.

I hope you had a great time buddy. Speaking of the blues...get ready for a lot of football when you get back. :)

Ha!! So you're starting to see like me and realized how much better these images are in color than b&w eh?

Just kidding man. Actually, no I'm not. Have fun in Helena.

I've never seen these in color. That top photo is so much better with the blue tones in the background. The bottom one I actually like better in B&W.

Looking forward to seeing your stuff when you get back.
